Great Book! Very details instructions w/ good photos...

I am not an "auto mechanic" by any means, so I was pleasantly surprised when I recently ordered this book and used it to remove and replace the exhaust manifold gasket on my '94 Jetta. The book gave very detailed and easy to understand instructions to aid me in my task. The book has also helped me with other various tasks, including a complete front and back brake job and a complete tune-up. The book has already saved me hundreds of dollars & I would recommend it to anyone who is thinking about working on their own water cooled Volkswagen.

Excellent book, but still needs more detail..

This is an excellent repair and maintenance book. However, when attempting to service my brakes, it fell short of giving a full explanation of what needed to be done. All I really wanted to do was to was replace my brake pads, but the caliper drawings were confusing and it referenced one-time-only use on the bolts holding the caliper, which is not true. A little lock tite on the bolt and you're good to go. The replacement bolts are just new bolts with lock tite already applied, and, as long as the bolt is in good shape, there is no need to replace. This should have been referenced. It also did not reference the requirement to use a special caliper piston tool on the rear calipers, since the rears need to be twisted because of the e-brake.
Overall, however, this is a great book and a must-have for any 1993-99 Jetta, Golf, or Cabrio owner.

This book is excellent! But......

I've got this book today,the content is very detailed and easy to read it! I'll begin to repair my mal-functioned A/C lights on Saturday.this book gave me great helps.
The only pity is this book only cover 2.0L 8v engine in code ABA(This is for North America only) (My engine code is 2E)
But I also bought a Haynes book"Volkswagen Golf & Vento (Feb '92 to '95)" from Amazon.co.uk. With cross-reference, I think this will do to me! which contains european models!

As someone who channels myself and works with the Magdalene, Angelic and Diamond light codes of Source-Love creator consciousness myself, I can say without a doubt that this is powerfully activating and truly inspired material. As Kaia Ra's journey reveals so courageously, there is nothing we can't overcome to become the brilliant radiance of light that we are in human form. In addition the words of initiation dive deep into the recesses of your DNA and lovingly ignite those areas that have been more resistant to transform, providing a reverence of self that inspires us to know how deeply loved we truly are by the spiritual forces that surround us. As a journey of deeper self-discovery, I enjoyed the various voices of feminine wisdom that is the Sophia Dragon Tribe, and know that this will profoundly impact all who are willing to awaken their true nature as divine beings. This is next level soul exploration, providing a structure for any spiritual practice that wishes to embody the feminine more directly in order to find balance. There isn't an empty sentence in this entire book. I'm an long time, avid reader or spiritual texts and the self-help genre. I'm also a former high school English teacher. This book reminds me of Gary Zukav's Seat of Soul, but now 30 years grown, developed, matured... I often deeply appreciate the spiritual insights that various books can offer, but it's not too often that I finish a book feeling that the approach and style of the writing can provide a message for a wide variety of people.
This book is challenging and inspiring. It reads like love letters from the universe. Highly recommend.

beautiful illuminating soul

Reading The Sophia Code has had such a profound effect on me, that the magic and synchronicites that have been happening in my life since the book arrived have accelerated at such a speed, that I can't seem to find the time to even finish reading it. I have been a seeker of mystical knowledge, and the occult for over 20 years now, and this text is truly a living transmission of the creation story, told from the prespective of the divine feminine. It's a road map, to discovering how to awaken to your gifts within, and what's happening in my life right now, is truly a testament to this. Kaia Ra is truly a blessing on this planet, and I am so very grateful that she is here in this time, to help shed light where it is needed, and help humanity awaken, to a higher existence. Peace is the Yearning of the Human Heart

On rare occasions, a new work will both redefine a discipline and contribute to the birth of a new paradigm. Integrated Peacebuilding: Innovative Approaches to Transforming Conflict (Craig Zelizer, Ed.) is such a work. In the array of disciplines related to conflict resolution, peacebuilding and international development, this work brings forward an integrated approach that views "peacebuilding as a lens" (p. 9).

Sustainable peace is an underlying motif in this book. Viewing peace as a long-term process, this work seeks to find a process of "transforming relationships and structures in society to decrease the likelihood of future conflicts" (p. 7).

There are several significant strengths to this work. First, it views peacebuilding in all its complexity. It engages peacebuilding in terms of health, security, environmental change, religion, media, gender, and international development. The scholarship is diverse as are the topics covered. Much of it comes from Georgetown University and its long-standing focus on conflict resolution.

It is from the multi-lens perspective on peacebuilding that this work suggests the redefinition of a discipline. Conflict resolution studies begin with a problem to be solved. Peacebuilding suggests a strengths-based approach of creating a multi-sector and multi-stakeholder paradigm for creating peace through responding to local community needs and priorities.

It is the great gift of this book that it frees peacebuilding from indentured service to the hegemonic interests of `global security.' If peacemaking is defined by securing an international development agenda for exploiting economic and energy resources and building new trade markets for multi-national corporations, it has no future worth pursuing.

This work suggests that "peacebuilding is not effective without addressing the basic needs of people through economic opportunity, basic health services and a functioning legal system" (xii). It challenges us to ask the compelling question: "Whose interests are being pursued in peacemaking efforts?" Peacemaking efforts, which are intervening in local conflicts without respect for local traditions, cultures, priorities and needs, risk prolonging and deepening conflicts, no matter how well-intentioned they may seem.

I find excitement in the strand of conversation in this work that shifts peacebuilding from a focus on an international security agenda to a more relational approach. Integrated Peacebuilding is a scholarly work. I see it as essential reading for anyone involved in the practice or disciplines of conflict resolution, international development or peacemaking. I highly recommend it to agencies and organizations involved in international development.

After reading this important work more than once, I am left yearning for a companion volume that might be written in lay-persons language and be focused toward the ever growing audience of community members and leaders.

The cover picture of Integrated Peacebuilding shows a community of color demonstrating for peace. Peace is the yearning of the human heart. We need a follow-up to this important work that will answer our collective yearning with new wisdom and understanding on how we can transform relationships--at a community level- to secure lasting peace. I pass this challenge back to the great scholars who have shared their insights in this work.

Great tool for teachers

I want to speak about how this book was such a tremendous help as I planned a summer class. The structure of the book is such that is geared towards generating group or small group discussions. It even comes with guided questions for each chapter!

I adapted a prezi based on the gender chapter and I found the authors laid out the main arguments and theories around the topic in a succinct but comprehensive manner. Having "tested" the gender chapter with a group of students/practitioners I highly recommend for everyone planning classes, seminars and trainings.

Many edited books could have a few good chapters but a rather weak overall structuring thread. I confidently say that Integrating Peacebuilding is far from this as the editor did a brilliant job at keeping the overall discussion on topic. You can pick apart the chapters or go cover to cover, and you will not miss the main argument of the book.
